Bitter Roots, Sweet Fruits is published

For Karen Cummings, Collingwood is a living history. The Collingwood Historical Society convenor is the author of the organisation's latest publication, Bitter Roots, Sweet Fruit: a history of schools in Collingwood, Abbotsford and Clifton Hill. Karen traced the history of the area's schools, from an Aboriginal school near the Merri Creek in the 1840s to "ragged schools" for destitute children and today's assorted kindergartens, schools and colleges. The book was launched on 10 February and is available for $22 at Yarra City Council libraries and the Information Victoria shop. For more information, visit http://www.collingwoodhs.org.au/.

Discussing the preparation and research for the book and thanking the editorial committee.
